New Service Using The Latest AI Technology
Advanced Skin Cancer Screening with DermEngine
At Dr Justin Evans Skin & Aesthetics, we are proud to offer the latest in skin cancer detection and monitoring technology — DermEngine. As a general practitioner with a special interest in skin cancer medicine, I have invested in this advanced AI-powered platform to provide my patients with the highest standard of care.
What is DermEngine?
DermEngine is a state-of-the-art dermatology imaging and diagnostic software, designed to assist in the early detection, documentation, and monitoring of skin conditions, particularly skin cancers such as melanoma. Used by leading skin specialists around the world, DermEngine combines high-resolution imaging, total body photography, and artificial intelligence (AI) to support precise and efficient skin assessments.
Key Features for Patients
- Total Body Photography
Your entire skin surface is photographed using clinical-grade imaging, providing a comprehensive visual baseline. This allows for accurate tracking of existing moles and detection of new or changing lesions over time — crucial for identifying potential skin cancers early. - AI-Powered Lesion Analysis
DermEngine uses advanced AI algorithms to analyse skin lesions and compare them against thousands of diagnosed cases. This provides an extra layer of diagnostic support and ensures no suspicious mole goes unnoticed. - Lesion Tracking Over Time
The system will digitally map, monitor, and track your skin lesions during regular check-ups. Any subtle changes in size, shape, or colour are highlighted for closer review, improving accuracy in early detection. - Secure & Centralised Records
Your images and history are stored securely, giving us a clear and consistent record of your skin health — no more relying on memory or manually comparing photos.
Why DermEngine is a Game-Changer for Skin Cancer Screening
- Early Detection through AI Diagnostics
Artificial Intelligence enhances diagnostic accuracy by detecting subtle features often invisible to the naked eye. This means potentially life-saving cancers can be identified earlier, when they are most treatable. - Enhanced Precision with Total Body Photography
By capturing your skin in its entirety, we ensure nothing is missed — especially useful for patients with many moles, a history of skin cancer, or fair skin types. - Peace of Mind with Continuous Monitoring
Knowing that every spot is documented and monitored provides peace of mind. If a lesion changes, the system will highlight it — even before it’s visible to you or me.
Your Skin, Our Priority
Your skin deserves the highest standard of care. With DermEngine, we combine clinical expertise with cutting-edge technology to provide thorough, evidence-based skin assessments. Whether it’s your first skin check or part of your ongoing monitoring, our goal is simple: detect skin cancer early, treat it promptly, and give you confidence in your skin health.

Types of Skin Cancer
There are three main types of skin cancer:
Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
BCC is one of the non-melanoma skin cancers and is the most common type. It tends to develop with age and is twice as likely to occur in males. BCC can manifest as subtle skin changes, including crusting, small lumps, or red, pale, or pearly skin changes.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
Like BCC, SCC is a non-melanoma skin cancer and becomes more prevalent with age, especially in males. It can present as a thickened, red, scaly or crusting spot that may bleed or be tender to touch.
The Skin Check Process
Skin checks are a straightforward and non-invasive procedure. Here’s what you can expect:
Comprehensive Examination
A medical professional will carefully inspect every surface of your skin, from head to toe. They will identify potentially concerning lesions or abnormalities.
Dermatoscope Examination
To further characterise and assess the risk of concerning lesions, a dermatoscope may be used. This specialised tool provides an enhanced view of the skin’s surface.
Discussion and Planning
Any concerning lesions will be discussed with you, and a personalised plan will be devised. Treatment options may include topical treatments, biopsy, excision, or, in some cases, referral to surgical specialists.
